Children learn critical hygiene procedures

lilani
Thanks to your generous support, Lilani and 70 other children from the Mao region in the Dominican Republic learned about the importance of hand-washing and other critical hygiene procedures during Timmy Global Health’s recent public health workshop. With your support, we were able to train 10 new community health promoters that will work with each of our communities to educate families and implement preventative health measures. During their recent training and community outing, our new health promoters visited 15 communities and spoke with 145 individual households.

Along with the hand-washing campaign, health promoters taught children and families about proper nutrition and a balanced diet, the importance of regular exercise, and how to measure their pulse and heart rate. Hypertension and diabetes are extremely prevalent in this region, so health education on the topics listed above is key to preventing and mitigating chronic illness in these communities.

Thank you for making public health trainings like this possible! Your contributions fuel our work and help us bring critical healthcare services to thousands of patients, families, and communities each year.
